After the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra came to an end, the organization announced preparations for a new march, this time going from east to west. The change occurred as the party’s three-day session in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, came to an end. It’s possible that the Pasighat-to-Porbandar yatra will begin later this year.
In advance of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the march may begin in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, and end in Porbandar, Gujarat, according to reports. Jairam Ramesh, a party spokesperson, did note that the format might vary slightly from the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Party officials say a choice would be made in the ensuing weeks. Ramesh claimed that the yatra would last less time than its precursor and could be started before June or before November. Elections are held in Karnataka in April, followed by showers in June and subsequent state elections in November.
“There is a lot of vigor and vitality. I agree that it is necessary, but I also recognize that the format of the east-to-west yatra may vary from that of the south-to-north Bharat Jodo Yatra, according to Ramesh, who spoke to news agency.
With fewer yatris partaking, the proposed journey might not have the elaborate infrastructure that was mobilized for the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Ramesh said that this would be a ‘multi-modal yatra’ due to the abundance of jungles and rivers on this route.
It would typically be a padayatra, he continued.
Gandhi stated today that the Congress should create a new strategy to continue the “tapasya” started by the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He made this statement while speaking to the Congress plenary session. He had also stated that the entire nation would take part in it, along with himself.
