After being questioned by the CBI for more than eight hours regarding the Delhi liquor policy case, Manish Sisodia, the deputy minister for Delhi, was yesterday detained. He is the second minister from Delhi to be detained.
Manish Sisodia’s responses, according to the Central Bureau of Investigation, were not acceptable.
Manish Sisodia appeared at the CBI headquarters yesterday at 11 am, and was questioned about purported corruption in the now-cancelled Delhi liquor policy for nearly eight hours.
According to CBI officials, the Aam Aadmi Party leader was questioned today about a number of excise policy-related topics, including his alleged connections to Dinesh Arora and other suspects named in the FIR and specifics of message exchanges from numerous phones.
According to agency representatives, the investigation’s team believed that Mr. Sisodia was not being cooperative.
They added that Manish Sisodia refused to provide the explanations that officials had requested on important issues.
Manish Sisodia provided evasive responses and refused to assist the investigation despite being presented with proof to the contrary, according to the CBI.
According to CBI officials, it was believed that Mr. Sisodia needed to undergo a lengthy interview while being held in a confined space.
In a statement, the CBI said, “The instant case was registered against Deputy Chief Minister and In charge Excise Minister, GNCTD of Delhi and 14 others for investigation into the matter of alleged irregularities in framing and implementation of Excise Policy for the year 2021-22 and extending post tender benefits to private persons.”
According to the CBI, the Delhi minister will appear before the designated judge on Monday.
Mr. Sisodia had previously declared the case against him to be “fake” and said he was prepared to serve seven to eight months in prison.
