In a three-corner race for the state’s 60 assembly seats, Tripura saw a 79.5% voter participation on Thursday. The state saw a participation of 91.4% in 2018.
The Tripura assembly elections, according to the Election Commission, were “largely violence-free” and allowed migrant Bru electors to exercise their right to vote for the first time in many years.
According to officials, the Election Commission has not yet received any reports calling for re-voting.
The BJP-IPFT coalition, the CPI(M)-Congress coalition, and the Tipra Motha, a local party founded by a member of the former royal family of the northeastern state, were the major candidates in the elections.
The voting will take place on March 2.
