BJP’s Push To Delhi-Mumbai Expressway To Be Starting Point For 2024 Elections

The major infrastructure initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is thought to be the BJP’s launchpad for the general election of 2024.

On Sunday, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway’s Rajasthan segment will be officially opened, cutting the travel time between the two main cities in half to just 12 hours. PM Modi signalled the start of the swift Vande Bharat Express today in Mumbai.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of railways, said: “I thank PM Modi for this gift to the people of Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, and devotees of Shirdi Saibaba.”

The finishing touches are being added to these infrastructure projects, which have been in the works for a while, a year before the national election that the BJP is convinced it will win and which would give PM Modi a third term.

Five states will be connected by the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. On Sunday, the Rajasthan leg will officially open. In the state governed by the Congress, the assembly election will take place this year. Before the election the next year, some see politics ingrained in these efforts.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which would be eight lanes and around 1,400 km long, will be the longest motorway in India. It is an engineering masterpiece and was constructed at a stunning cost of nearly 1 lakh crore.

“Our 246-kilometer stretch is currently complete. At roughly 180 miles, there is a junction that leads directly to Jaipur. The part on Dausa is prepared. Jaipur is within our grasp in two to two and a half hours “Mudit Garg, project director for the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), stated.

The motorway will contain wayside facilities like EV lanes, helipads, trauma centres, and charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs). According to the government, it is the first roadway in Asia to have wildlife crossings and animal overpasses.

All vehicles will be limited to a top speed of 120 kmph on the motorway, which will help save gasoline. Nearly 800 million pounds of carbon emissions and 300 million litres of fuel are thought to be saved annually.
