India responded appropriately to Pakistan’s propensity of raising the border dispute at every major gathering during the UN General Assembly (UNGA). On Monday, India proclaimed that Ladakh and the entire Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir are and always will be a part of the nation.
The entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are, and always will be an integral and inalienable part of India, regardless of what the representative of Pakistan believes or covets, an Indian representative at the UN said in response to Pakistan’s recent statement regarding the border regions of J&K and Ladakh.
“We expect nothing new from this group,” he continued, “since it has a strong feeling of fear and organised animosity for India and our secular credentials and principles that my country stands for.”
However, Pakistan has brought up the Kashmir issue in the UNGA before. Earlier this year, Pakistani ambassador Munir Akram attempted to connect the two situations by bringing up the Kashmir issue when defending his vote at the UNGA on the Russia-Ukraine war. Pakistan was accused of abusing the UN platform by India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, who criticised Pakistan’s “pointless remark.”
