Over 30 Injured After Tanker Crashes Into Vehicles Over Line’s Navale Bridge

Around 30 people have sustained injuries after an uncontrollable tanker crashed into 48 vehicles at Navale bridge of Pune on Sunday, said a official from Pune Fire Brigade.

“A major road accident occurred at Navale bridge on the Pune-Bengaluru highway in Pune in which about 48 vehicles got damaged. Rescue teams from the Pune Fire Brigade and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) have reached the spot,” he said in a statement.

Soon after the accident took place, the rescue teams of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority and Pune Fire Brigade reached the spot.

Reportedly, the tanker’s brakes got failed and it crashed into the vehicles. The accident took place around 9 pm on Sunday.

As the tanker crashed, oil got spilled onto the road that made the road slippery and several vehicles then added to the pileup.

The tragic accident has resulted into a huge traffic congestion on the roads to Mumbai. The jams of more than 2 km long have been reported.

Over the last few days, the Navale bridge has become the major spot of accidents. Last Friday, a woman was killed in an accident near bridge after she was hit by a speeding car.
