In search of evidence against the accused Aaftab Poonawala in Shraddha Walkar murder case, the Delhi Police on Wednesday reached his Delhi’s flat where blood stains in Kitchen and surgical gloves were found.
The Delhi court even gave the nod to the police’s petition to conduct narco test on Aaftab. According to the police, the accused is not cooperating in the investigation and is trying to mislead the police.
Aaftab Poonawala is accused of killing his live-in partner in May and chopping her into 35 pieces. He kept her pieces in a 300 litre fridge which he bought for the purpose and later disposed the pieces one by one over the period of 18 days across the Mehrauli forest of Delhi.
Reportedly, the blood samples which were recovered from Aaftab’s flat have been sent for examination to find out whose blood it is.
Apart from the dating app Bumble, Aaftab was active on other dating platforms simultaneously. The police even claim that during the time of crime, he was in touch with more than one woman.
The police said that as the accused was not cooperating in the investigation and making attempts to mislead the police, petition for conducting narco test was filed in the Saket court.
Also, Aaftab Poonawala has yet not disclosed details about the murder weapon he used to chop Shraddha and about her mobile phone.
The Delhi Police took Aaftab to the Mehrauli forest to search for the parts of Shraddha. The recovered parts were from the lower part of the spinal cord. Around 10-12 pieces were found by the forensic team on Tuesday.
During the questioning, Aaftab told Police that he had tried to Kill Shraddha even earlier, but he changed his mind because she became emotional. The couple had a heated argument on the day of Shraddha’s murder also over marriage.
The Senior Police Inspector of Manikpur Police station, Sampatrao Patil told that the, “
Banking transactions were made by Aaftab from Shraddha’s accounts on three occasions. On May 18, he transferred Rs 50,000 to his account from her account, and again on two more occasions he transferred the amount from her account to his account.”
Aaftab Poonawala and Shraddha Walker had met online through a dating app Bumble in 2019. Later they started working at the same call centre in Mumbai and fell in love with each other. As they belonged to the different religions, their families were against the relationship and hence, they moved to Delhi.
