Voting On 68 Seats Begins In Himachal Pradesh, Huge Security Deployed

Voting in 68 constituencies has begun in Himachal Pradesh around 8 AM in the morning. Total 412 candidates are contesting the battle to decide their fate in the hill state where no government has served consecutive terms after 1982.

Total 7,882 polling booths have been set up by the Election Commission across the state. Nearly 30,000 security forces that include 11,500 state Police personnel and 67 teams of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed for conducting free and fair election. Around 50,000 government employees have also been deployed for the poll duty.

The voters need to have their Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) along with them for voting. They need to show that at the polling booth or must hold any possible identification document with Photo Voter Slips.

The documents which are valid according to the Election Commission include Aadhaar Card, bank passbooks, driving license, MNREGA job card, health insurance smart card, Indian passport, pension document with photo, service identity cards with photos issues to employees by Central/State/Public Limited Companies/Public Sector Undertakings, Unique Disability ID (UDID) card or official identity cards issued by the MLAs/MLCs/MPs.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all the citizens to participate in the festival of democracy ahead the elections.
