The Enforcement Directorate was grilled by a Delhi court today as it opposed actor Jacqueline Fernandez’s release. The investigation agency questioned why “pick and choose” and why the actor had not yet been detained.
“Despite issuing a LOC, why haven’t you arrested Jacqueline yet? Other suspects are incarcerated. Why implement a policy of pick and choose? The Enforcement Directorate was questioned by a court.
Tomorrow, the court will probably make its judgement about Jacqueline Fernandez’s bail request public. She had already received conditional bail.
In connection with a 200 crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, Jacqueline Fernandez is accused of participating.
The actor was denied bail primarily due to the Enforcement Directorate’s claims that she attempted to leave the country, didn’t comply with the authorities, and was the subject of serious charges.
“In our entire lives, we have never seen more than Rs. 50 lakh in cash, yet Jacqueline frittered away Rs. 7.14 crore for amusement. Because she has enough money, she has attempted every trick in the book to try to get away, according to the Enforcement Directorate.
A Lookout Circular (LOC) had already been sent in airports by the agency, which looks into financial crimes, to prevent the actor from leaving the country.
The Enforcement Directorate’s charge sheet in the extortion case against imprisoned conman Sukesh Chandrashekar names Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused. The actor has been charged with accepting pricey gifts from Sukesh Chandrashekar, who is known for extorting millions of dollars from businesspeople and celebrities.
The Bollywood actor from Sri Lanka claimed she was given luxury vehicles, Chanel and Gucci handbags, Gucci workout gear, and Louis Vuitton jewellery and shoes. She added that Sukesh Chandrasekhar had organised her hotel stays and private jet travel.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who has been imprisoned in Delhi since 2017, is accused of defrauding numerous people, including Aditi Singh, the wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.
