Twitter on Friday fired around 50% of its strong staff in a massive restructuring of the company following its takeover by billionaire Elon Musk.
As per the internal information, the fired employees will no more have any access to the company emails and computers on immediate effect.
Workers across the world were shown exit from the microblogging site and taking to Twitter they vented up their anger and frustration to the company.
“Woke up to the news that my time working at Twitter has come to an end. I am heartbroken. I am in denial,” said the Twitter’s director of public policy for US and Canada, Michele Austin.
“Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day,” Musk said in a tweet over the issue for the first time.
Meanwhile, Twitter had asked its employees to wait for their fate via an email closing all access to the company.
“It’s a pretty inhumane way to treat people. It seems like a mercenary effort, they’re trying to save money at all cost,” said one of the fired employees on the condition of anonymity.
The move is significant part of Musk’s push to track down ways of paying for the mammoth $44 billion deal for which he took on billions of dollars under debt and sold $15.5 billion worth in Tesla, his electric car company.
According to the inside information, Musk’s teams were forcing furiously the remaining employeeson, getting Tesla developers to regulate the work by “Tweeps,” the inhouse name for Twitter workers.
