Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal is set to announce party’s chief ministerial candidate for upcoming Gujarat assembly elections starting from December 1.
The sources said, the candidate was chosen on the basis of demands made by the people of the state.
The frontrunners for the chief ministerial face include the state unit president Gopal Italia, general secretary Manoj Soratihya and national general secretary Isudan Gadhvi.
The AAP and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will make the announcement at a press conference in Ahmedabad today.
Aap Aadmi Party had requested people from Gujarat to convey their choices regarding who should be the chief ministerial face for the upcoming Gujarat elections via SMS, voice mail, e-mail and WhatsApp, said Mr Kejriwal.
This submission of opinions by the people was allowed till November 3.
“We will announce the result on November 4,” Mr Kejriwal had said on 29 October (Saturday).
He had even said, “During the Punjab elections, we had asked people as to who should be the next chief minister. People named Bhagwant Mann by a huge majority. And as per the wishes of the public, we made him chief minister.”
