Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the Morbi city to meet the victims of the horrific incident that took place on the Sunday evening listened to the stories of those who were either rescued, inured or lost their dear ones.
During his conversation he assured the victims that the justice will be provided them expeditiously and directed an independent and transparent investigation into the incident to find out the real culprits of the tragedy.
“The PM said the need of the hour is to conduct a detailed and extensive inquiry which will identify all aspects relating to this accident,” a release from PIB stated.
Later in the review meeting with the ministers and officials, Prime Minister Modi asked the authorities to extend all possible assistance to the grieving families.
Initially, PM Modi along with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was taken to the site of incident where junior home minister Harsh Sanghavi briefed him about the series of events happened during the horrific incident.
He also met with the families of those who lost their lives and offered prayers for them.
“PM saheb’s words have eased my agony. He assured me that action will be taken against all those responsible,” said Rajesh Sanura, whose 19-year-old son died.
While at the Morbi Civil Hospital, PM Modi listened to the grievances of those who were recovering from their injuries and collected details about the incident.
“I narrated my close shave with death to Modiji and how I was rescued after clinging to the bridge. He wished me a speedy recovery,” said one of the those injured.
PM Modi asked the hospital officials to make sure best possible treatment is given to the admitted patients.
At last, the Prime Minister even talked to the rescue teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Navy and Army who carried out the rescue operation day and night.
