The Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) site, located at abc.gov.in, will soon require all higher education institutions (HEIs) offering online and ODL programmes to register their students.
The ABC Portal is a national-level tool to support curricular framework flexibility and student academic mobility between higher education institutions (HEls) throughout the nation with the proper “credit transfer” mechanism.
The main responsibilities of ABC include enrolling HEIs in the ABC system, opening, closing, and validating student academic accounts, credit verification, credit accumulation, credit transfer/redemption, and promotion of the ABC among stakeholders.
How can I sign up for the ABC portal?
Step 1: Go to abc.gov.in, the portal for the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC).
Step 2: On the home page, select the “student” option by clicking the “my account” link in the right side top corner.
Step 3: A new window will open for you. Use your username, mobile number, or official identity documents to log in or register.
Step 4: Enter all the necessary data and, if necessary, upload any required papers.
Each account holder will receive a distinct ID on the ABC site after opening a distinct/individual academic bank account in digital form.
Tomorrow, the UGC will issue letters to 58 higher education institutions that offer online programmes and to 86 HEIs that offer ODL programmes, requiring them to implement the ABC platform. For programmes offered in ODL and online mode, HEIs are required to create Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) IDs for students and deposit their credits with ABC.
Additionally, the ABC portal may be similarly integrated with the LMS of all colleges offering online programmes.
