Droupadi Murmu To Sworn In As 15th President Today, Ceremony To Take Place At Central Hall

Elected President Droupadi Murmu will today sworn in as the 15th President of India. The oath ceremony is expected to be held in the Central Hall of the Parliament.

Ms Murmu will be sworn in front of the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana.

As per the set schedule, Ms Murmu is scheduled to reach Rajghat at 8:30 am, for which she will leave her residence around 8:15 am. From there at around 9:22 am, she will reach at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The first tribal woman to be President will be escorted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to the Central Hall. Soon after Ms Murmu will enter the Central Hall, the National Anthem wi be played.

Around 10:15 am, she will finally be sworn in as the President by the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana. Following her oath, she will then sign the Oath register.

After her oath, the newly sown in President will address the Central Hall.

She will then return back to the Raashtrapati Bhawan at around 10:57 am.

Later on after the oath ceremony, if there is no rain on Monday, the planned Ceremonial function in the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan will be executed. And if it rains, then the function will be cancelled.

On July 21, after the results of Presidenial elections were disclosed, the 64-year old tribal leader became the second woman to hold the highest constitutional post in the country.

Ms Murmu is the first President of India to be born after independence and the youngest to hold the apex post.
