‘Any Decision On Foreign Travel Can Even Stop PM From Going Abroad,’ Says CM Kejriwal

According to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, even the prime minister would not be permitted to travel if a decision regarding the foreign travels of constitutional authorities is made based solely on the matters that fall under their purview.

Soon after Delhi Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena turned down the AAP government’s request for the chief minister to travel to Singapore on August 1 to attend a summit, Mr. Kejriwal made his statements.

In an official statement posted by his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Twitter, Mr. Kejriwal disagreed with Lt. Governor Saxena’s “advice” that he should not attend the Singapore conference and claimed that making decisions about the constitutional authorities’ foreign travel on such grounds would lead to “a funny situation and a practical logjam.”

“I respectfully disagree with LG’s advice as a result. The visit will go forward as planned. Please ask the federal government for political clearance “According to the memo from the chief minister.

According to procedure, elected political figures must receive approval from the Ministry of External Affairs before traveling abroad.

In a statement released by the deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia, it was said that the matter had been properly routed through the LG, who had then provided his opinion.

According to the statement, “the chief minister has responded that, to the best of his ability and comprehension, he does not concur with the LG’s recommendation as the invitation concerns him presenting the Delhi Model in front of leaders from all over the world.”

It continued, “The chief minister has now requested political approval for the matter from the Ministry of External Affairs in his official position.” Lt. Governor Saxena turned down the Delhi government’s request earlier in the day for Mr. Kejriwal to travel to Singapore to attend a conference on August 1.

According to government sources, Mr. Saxena recommended Mr. Kejriwal not to go to the World Cities Summit in Singapore next month because it is a meeting of mayors and his attendance wouldn’t be appropriate.

According to sources, Mr. Saxena has rejected the request for Mr. Kejriwal to travel abroad, citing that the conference will cover several facets of urban governance that are handled by organizations other than the city government, such as the MCD, DDA, and NDMC.

The LG claimed that the Delhi government did not have sole authority over the issues and that a chief minister’s attendance would be “inappropriate.”

“I have read LG’s note in its entirety. He “recommended” that the chief minister skip the convention in Singapore. I thoroughly considered the advise of the honorable LG and disagree with it “According to Mr. Kejriwal’s note.

The chief minister outlined reasons why he disagrees with the LG’s recommendation “Not simply a mayors’ conference, either. It is a gathering of mayors, municipal officials, academics, etc.” “The three lists of the Constitution’s Constitution do not divide up human life into the different categories. It would lead to a humorous scenario and a real stalemate if the visit of each constitutional power in our nation were to be determined by the subjects that fall under that authority’s purview “He declared.

“The prime minister would thus be unable to travel since on most of his visits, he also discusses topics that are outside of his purview and that of the state. No CM would thereafter be able to travel to any location in the world, “Chief Minister of Delhi added.

Mr. Kejriwal stated that it gives him “great joy” that the Delhi model of administration, “particularly” the work his government has done in the fields of education, health, and power, is being recognized and acknowledged on a global scale.

“The Singaporean government has invited me to promote the Delhi model to international city leaders. Every patriotic Indian takes enormous delight in it. We should all celebrate it and work to make this visit possible “added he.
