Dissidence Continues In Shiv Sena As More MPs Join Shinde Faction

Uddhav Thackeray will soon begin losing his MPs as he witnesses hordes of Shiv Sena leaders defecting to the opposing camp headed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

According to sources, a dozen Shiv Sena MPs are in contact with Eknath Shinde and may create a different group in the Lok Sabha. This occurs at the same time as the Chief Minister’s trip to Delhi to meet with the BJP leadership to discuss the Maharashtra cabinet.

The Sena group will be led by the party’s Mumbai South Central MP Rahul Shewale, the MPs wrote to Speaker Om Birla last night to let him know.

Additionally, the group might name a chief whip; Yavatmal MP Bhavana Gawli is probably going to accept the position. She was recently replaced as Chief Whip by Rajan Vichare when Uddhav Thackeray was ousted for anti-party acts, although the Speaker has not made a formal ruling.

18 of the Shiv Sena’s 19 Lok Sabha members are from Maharashtra.

According to Shinde Sena sources In a virtual meeting with Eknath Shinde on Monday, 12 of these 19 MPs showed their support and confidence in the rebel leader, whose group now controls the party that Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray’s father, established.

The Shiv Sena’s official emblem won’t be claimed by the MPs until the Speaker makes a decision about their request to be acknowledged as a distinct entity.

The coalition government led by Uddhav Thackeray was overthrown last month when the majority of Shiv Sena MLAs sided with Eknath Shinde. By forming a coalition government with the BJP, Mr. Shinde was able to overthrow his party’s leader with great success.

Uddhav Thackeray last week broke with his alliance allies and proclaimed support for the BJP’s presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu during a meeting with his MPs. The opposition parties said that Mr. Thackeray, who was humiliated and alone, had no alternative but to concur with his MPs.

The Supreme Court’s ruling on several issues pertaining to the Shiv Sena uprising, which may or may not determine who is the Shiv Sena’s leader, is currently being awaited by Mr. Thackeray and Mr. Shinde.
