Khiru Mahto’s Pick Over RCP Singh For Rajya Sabha Seat Disappoints Nitish Kumar

The Bihar chief minister claimed Singh had been given all opportunities along the line after the Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chose former Jharkhand lawmaker Khiru Mahto for the Rajya Sabha seat over Union minister RCP Singh. On July 7, the Union steel minister’s time in the Upper House of Parliament will come to an end.

Kumar claimed that the former bureaucrat had been elected to the Rajya Sabha thrice, in addition to being elected as the party’s president and serving as a minister in the Central government.

“Since he was an IAS official, he’s been with us.” He has twice been elected to the Rajya Sabha. He was also elected president of the party, and he currently serves as a minister in the Central administration. When asked about Singh’s rejection of another nomination in the Upper House, Kumar told reporters, “So he has all these options.”

In response to Mahto’s candidacy, JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh claimed a day ago that he was a terrible party worker and that this was another move toward honoring individuals who had been connected with the party from its inception. Mahto is the head of the JD (U) Jharkhand unit and was elected to the Jharkhand parliament from Mandu in 2005.

“He is a commoner and a poor party worker, and this is another step in honoring party workers who have been with us since the Samata Party days,” the JDU national president remarked.
