At least 9 people were died and more than 1,000 injured after an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 hit eastern Taiwan on Wednesday morning.
Some around 42 workers walking their way towards a hotel situated in a national park went missing in the rubble after the quake created havoc.
According to media reports, two Indians – a woman and a man also went missing after the earthquake. The last place where they were seen was Taroko George which is near to the epi-centre. Search operation for the duo is currently going on.
The quake hit the eastern Taiwan at a time when people were getting ready and leaving for their work. This was strongest earthquake in 25 years that hit mostly the rural and people residing in country of Hualien.
As per the Reuters reports, around 1,038 people were injured as claimed by Taiwan’s fire department and around 48 including 42 hotel employees went missing.
In the rescue operation underway, the officials are planning to send drones and helicopters to find those went missing and to drop the essential supplies those who are trapped.
However, the disaster management command centre late on Wednesday said, their main focus is to find the hotel workers who went missing on their way to Taroko Gorge.
Six people trapped in a mining area were finally rescued with the help of a helicopter on Thursday, said the fire department.
