At least 9 people lost their lives in a collision between a truck and car on Mumbai-Goa highway in Raigad district on Thursday.
The incident happened in the Mangaon region of the highway.
Both the vehicles were coming from opposite directions and the police said, the speeding truck hit the Eeco car.
The truck was on its way to Mumbai, while the car was on its way to Guhagar of Ratnagiri district.
The accident took place around 5 in the morning today.
The 9 dead included 4 women and a 4 year old boy was injured in the accident.
Soon after the Incident was reported the police reached the destination and rescued the 4 year old child.
The traffic was soon resumed over the highway and the incident is under investigation, said the police.
