700 Indian students who applied for study visas through consultant Brijesh Mishra have received deportation notices after the Canadian authorities discovered that the papers were fraudulent.
The Canadian officials discovered that the “admission offer letters” and educational institutions were fake, and the Indian students now risk being deported from the country.
Recently, they got letters from the Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA) ordering their deportation.
700 students reportedly applied for study visas through Education Migration Services, a Jalandhar-based company run by Brijesh Mishra. For all costs, including the admission fee to prestigious university Humber College but not including air tickets or security deposits, the company charged each student more than Rs 16 lakh.
The newspaper also noted that Education Migration Services’ website has been taken down and that Mishra hasn’t been seen in his workplace for a few months.
Mishra has previously been charged with engaging in unlawful activity. He was detained in 2013 for fabricating documents to send students overseas. At that time, he co-owned and operated a business named “Easy Way Immigration Consultancy” with other directors.
Mishra charged each pupil more than Rs 16 lakh, including tuition at Humber College in Ontario, but did not include airfare or security deposits. According to company sources, Mishra kept Rs 5–6 lakh per pupil and returned the balance when they enrolled in other Canadian colleges. However, after arriving in Canada, the majority of the students received offer letters for schools where they did not enroll. They were either asked to wait until the following term or transferred to other colleges.
