Five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO) have been injured in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir between the security forces and terrorists after an army base was attacked last night, said police.
This was a third such attempt in last three days in the region after terrorits attacks Kathua, where a civilian was injured and also a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi was attacked in which 9 people were killed.
Additional Director General of Police of Jammu zone, Anand Jain is supervising the whole anti-terrorist mission. A jawan from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was also killed in Kathua last night.
Mr Jain on Doda incident said, the terrorists opened fire at the joint party of Police and the Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in Chattargala region late last night and an encounter is going on since then.
Jammu along with many other regions that are known to be terror-free have been on radar of terrorism.
One of the two terrorists involved in the Kathua attack have been killed and search for the other terrorist is going on in the Hiranagar area of Kathua, said the police.
The terrorists had asked for water from several houses, raising villagers’ suspicions, and opened fire when some villagers raised an alarm, the police said. One civilian was injured in the firing, clarified Mr Jain and denied reports that three people died in the Kathua attack.
Two days earlier, a bus carrying passengers to the Shiv Khori cave temple was attacked in Reasi. The terrorists opened fire at the bus after the driver denied to deboard the passengers leading the bus to fall into a gorge, said bus company’s manager. In the incident, nine passengers were killed and 33 were injured. According to the sources, the attack was carried on the directions of Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza.
