At least 4 people dead while 100 are reported to be injured after 12 coaches of North-East Superfast train derailed at Raghunatgpur railway station Buxar district of Bihar on Wednesday.
Around two to three AC coaches overturned and fell on the track.
“Some coaches of train number 12506 North East Express going from Anand Vihar Terminal to Kamakhya derailed at 21.35 today near Raghunathpur station of Danapur division,” a railway official said.
He said that the train was on its way to Kamakhya near Guwahati when the tragedy took place at around 9.35 pm yesterday.
The accident has disrupted many up and down movements on the track leading diversion of many trains.
A team of senior railway officials reached the site of accident to take stock of the situation and said that all efforts are being taken to put back the derailed coaches back on the tracks. They also said, railways will assess the actual loss incurred on the accident but initially the motive is to clear the track.
Many trains on the New Delhi-Howrah track were delayed to reach their destination because the derailment caused damages to many pillars, signals post, electrical poles and tracks on both sides were also completely damaged.
Train movement on Deen Dayal Upadhyay-Howrah track was also hampered that connects Pataliputra, Jasidih, Koul, Jha kha and Patna.
After taking stock of situation, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yada ordered officials in Buxar and Arrah to sent officials to the accident site to take needy actions and also to make all possible arrangements for speedy relief for those who were injured and affected in any manner.
