4 Arrested In Major Crackdown Following Anti-Modi Posters Put Up Across Delhi

At least 44 cases have been filed in a major police crackdown after thousands of posters launching attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi were put across Delhi. The police has arrested 4 people so far and two of them own a printing press.

The police took down around 2,000 posters from different places in Delhi. Majority of them had a slogan “Modi hatao, desh bachao (Remove Modi, save the country)”.

The police has cited the reason that the public property was defaced hence, the arrests were made under the law that requires the posters to carry the name of the printing press.

The police seized some around 2,000 posters on their way to Aam Aadmi Party’s office in Central Delhi. When questioned, the driver who was taking the posters to the office told the police that he was instructed to deliver those posters to AAP headquarters.

He even said that he had delivered the similar posters on Monday also.

Meanwhile, responding to the police’s crackdown and arrests the AAP in a tweet questioned the FIRs and asked what was wrong in the posters. The Delhi ruling party has termed it as the “peak of Modi government’s dictatorship”.

The owners of the printing press who have been arrested told the police that they were given the order to print 50,000 posters with a slogan “Modi hatao, desh bachao”. However, the police arrested the owners because the posters did not carry the same name of printing press.
