31 people lost their lives in China’s northwestern Ningxia region on Wednesday night in a gas explosion.
The explosion happened at a barbecue restaurant in the capital city of Yinchuan of Ningxia region.
The incident happened just before the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.
The region has a good amount of Muslim population. The event took place at a busy street where people were doing preparations for the festival, when the explosion took place at around 8:40 pm.
As per the initial reports, the explosion is said to be happened due to a leakage from a liquefied petroleum gas tank at the restaurant.
Meanwhile, the explosion also resulted into several people getting burns and severe injuries who are currently going under treatment.
Taking stock of the situation, the Chinese President Xi Jinping has asked the authorities to make sure the speed treatment of those who got injured in the incident and stressed on the need to enhance the safety precautions in the industries and related sectors.
