Three people lost their lives and 20 were injured in a late night clash that erupted between two groups in Haryana on Monday. Out of three dead two were Home Guards.
Clashes broked out during a religious procession in Haryana’s Nuh, adjoined with Gurugram.
The police said that the two Home Guards were shot dead because the mob tried to restrict the religious procession by pelting stones and setting vehicles on fire.
Meanwhile, the third person out of the three was killed during the overnight clashes, said the police.
By the evening, violence was spread to Gurugram-Sohna highway and vehicles were hugely torched and stones were also pelted. The mob targeted both the government and private vehicles as means of showing anger.
While, around 2,500 people who came to be part of the procession remained stranded inside a temple because of the violence. The police however rescued them later.
After violence in Nuh, there were reports coming of violence in Palwal also following which restrictions were imposed in Palwal, Faridabad, Nuh and Gurugram.
Taking control of the situation, internet services have also been shut till tomorrow in the region. All educational institutions including schools and colleges will remain closed in Faridabad and Gurugram.
According to the sources, tensions were erupted between the two groups after an objectionable video was shared on social media by an activist from Bajrang Dal.
