In the early hours of Thursday, a pick-up truck toppled in the Dindori area of Madhya Pradesh when the driver lost control. At least 14 people were killed and 21 injured. According to the police, the event happened when the victims were coming back from a “godh bharai” programme and was under the purview of the Dindori district’s Shahpura police station.
Mohan Yadav, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, declared that the relatives of the deceased would receive ₹4 lakh in compensation. Mohan Yadav gave the local government the order to treat the injured people medically. Sampatiya Uikey, the cabinet minister, was also instructed by the chief minister to head straight to the Dindori accident scene in order to supervise the rescue efforts.
“Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed deep condolence over the untimely demise of many precious lives in a vehicle accident in Dindori district. He has prayed to God to grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the family members to bear this thunderbolt. The chief minister said that financial assistance of ₹4 lakh each will be provided to the families of those injured in the incident. Instructions have been given to the district administration for proper treatment of the injured. On the instructions of the chief minister, cabinet minister Sampatiya Uikey is reaching Dindori,” the chief minister’s office (CMO) said in Hindi in a post on X (formally Twitter).
The driver of the car lost control of the wheels, resulting in a collision close to Badjhar Ghat at approximately 1.30 in the morning. According to the official, this caused the car to overturn, killing 14 people and wounding 21 more.
According to the authorities, the victims had travelled to Amhai Devri village to participate in the programme. The superintendent of police and the Dindori district collector hurried to assist the victims as soon as they learned about the tragedy.
