13 Named In Murder Case After Mother-Daughter Died In Anti-Encroachment Drive

During a Monday anti-encroachment sweep in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Dehat district, a 45-year-old lady and her 20-year-old daughter perished in a fire. The family of the two ladies says that their hut was set on fire by police while they were inside, contrary to the police’s assertion that the two set themselves on fire.
According to a police official, the event happened in the Madauli hamlet in the district’s Rura area where the police, district administration, and revenue officials had gone to remove encroachments from a “gramme samaj” or government land.

The villagers claim they received no prior notification before the officials showed there with a bulldozer early in the morning.

“While there were still people inside, they started the fire. We barely made it out alive. Our temple was damaged. No one intervened, not even the DM (District Magistrate). Everyone sprinted, but my mother was helpless “Shivam Dixit stated.

Pramila Dixit and her daughter Neha allegedly set themselves on fire, according to the police. A police officer reported that Gendan Lal, the husband of Pramila, and Rura Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Gautam both suffered burn wounds while attempting to save the victims.

“According to what we can ascertain, a mother and her daughter barricaded themselves inside the hut and set it ablaze, which led to their deaths. We’ve arrived at the location. Each and every official who is involved is present. If there is any misconduct, we will look into it and we won’t spare the guilty, “said BBGTS Murthy, Superintendent of Police (SP).

“A video is taken throughout every anti-encroachment campaign. We have requested the footage and will look into it “And Mr. Murthy.

Following the fatalities, there is hostility between the police and the local inhabitants. The cops were bricked by the villagers, who then fled the scene. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Maitha) Gyaneshwar Prasad, Lekhpal Singh, and other others are being demanded by the villagers to file a First Information Report, or FIR, for the suspected murder.

Alok Singh, the additional director general of police for the Kanpur zone, and Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar went to the village to calm the gathering. Top officials have declared that they will punish anyone found guilty.

The Samajwadi Party ascribed responsibility for the “murders” to the “insensitive” government.

“Brahmin households are singled out by the Yogi (Adityanath) administration, and such occurrences are occurring sporadically. Brahmins are also a target of the Yogi government’s atrocities, along with Dalits and the underclass “In a Hindi tweet, the opposition party made a statement.
