₹ 29.90 Crore Cash And Over 5 Kg Gold Seized From Arpita Mukherjee’s Second Residence

The Enforcement Directorate has again recovered ₹ 29.90 crore in cash and more than 5 kg of gold from another residence of arrested Partha Chatterjee’s close aide Arpita Mukherjee. Officials who took almost 10 hours to count the cash told that a big amount was found in toilet.

This was a second round of raid after the investigating agency recovered ₹ 21 crore from Ms Mukherjee’s first residence.

ED has been raiding Arpita Mukherjee’s residences in relation with an alleged teacher recruitment fraud in West Bengal. The amount found in raids is said to be the proceeds from the fraud.

During the first raid, the ED had recoverd a sum total of ₹23.22 crore of which ₹ 21.90 in cash, ₹ 56 lakh in foreign currency and gold amounting to ₹ 76 lakh.
The agency today has recovered ₹ 20 crore so far and is still continuing the counting of cash gold bars.

So far, the total recovery has amounted to ₹ 45.22 crore.

Meanwhile, Ms Mukherjee has told ED that the total amount recovered from her residence belong to state minister Partha Chatterjee.

She said, the amount was to be invested in the companies linked to her. According the plan, the cash was to be transferred from her house within one or two days but the investigating agency foiled it, she further said.
